Facebook Changes

Over the weekend, I started a new Facebook page for my artistic/creative activities unrelated to my writing, editing, and résumé services. Once 25 individuals have “Liked” my page, I will have a shorter URL. For now, you can find my “Artist” page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Liz-Bennefeld/250882284936294 (or by searching for “Liz Bennefeld” and selecting “Pages”).

As I get photographs put up on the new page, I will be removing them from The Written Word‘s Facebook page. At the moment I am looking for all of my Red Bubble groups “Featured Photos”  and putting them into an album. I should have kept better track, because I am not sure how many of them there are.

Looking forward to another interesting week! (Bought paper plates over the weekend, which should cut down on time needed for chores.)

At last, a weekend

I do so look forward to the weekends, a change of pace…a different set of activities. With the forecast of rain, once again, I will have reading time out in the gazebo with the sound of raindrops on the roof and the wind blowing through the branches of the cottonwood tree at my back.

Whether the schedule has been heavy or light, the contrast between the work week and the weekend is necessary. We set aside time to take care of other tasks, sleep a bit later in the morning or stay awake longer at night, and reserve time for meditating, thinking, praying, walking…whatever activity it is that helps to restore the feeling of mental and physical balance to our lives. If the week has been hectic, the change of pace contributes to a restored perspective. If the week has been unexpectedly quiet—idle or nonproductive, then the weekend offers the opportunity to rest from worry for a while and turn our hands to work of our own choosing that is both productive and enjoyable.

Of course, some people “work” harder on the weekends than at their jobs during the work week. Even so, it is the discontinuity, the change of rate of activity that restores our balance…our sense of control. We are in charge of this time and can do with it what we decide to do.

Caterpillar expansion

I read in the Forum online that Caterpillar in West Fargo is expanding its plant and plans to add 250 new jobs over the next three years. Exciting news for people looking for this type of work! I feel so encouraged when job opportunities expand in our extended community, here.

Another Featured Photograph

Yesterday, I got a note that my photograph, Hollyhock & Bee, is among the featured art works in the Bee & Wasp Passions group at RedBubble.com

The Squirrels Ate It

Evidently a group of squirrels ate away a part of the telephone cable, a pole south of us, leaving us with no phone service. Back up, again, as of just a bit ago. Hope to get mail read and responded to, tomorrow morning.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

Temporarily without Internet access

Qwest sent out a truck this morning because someone lost their phone service. (Realized, then, when I checked, that we also had no phone or Internet.)

It came back up for a few hours, and then disappeared totally. Like there’s nothing at all connected to our telephone wire.

My business (cell) phone still works. That’s the one listed on the front page of my site. Home phone and Internet are out until further notice. (When called, they said something about sending a technician out again on Friday, sometime. I certainly hope it’s up before then.)

The coming week

I find myself wishing, as the holiday weekend approaches, that I had a little bit more work scheduled, and fewer  social engagements. The three-day weekend will be nice, however.

A poem of mine, published in the Dec. 2010/Jan. 2011 ARTSpulse magazine (print edition—a local publication),  reflected on the need for more time:

Stepped outside of time

to fit a 3-day weekend

into 2 days off.

(The wording may not be exact. It keeps changing on me.)

Sometimes, however, it isn’t more time that one needs, but more variety in activities.

Back up and running

The Internet did die, Friday night, but was up again soon after I got up, Saturday morning. So, I am once again sending and receiving e-mails.

Internet/email and house phone are down

My business telephone number is working, but landline/DSL are down due to heavy rain. See front page of my web site for the number.

Back soon!
